Coca‑Cola HBC has won the prestigious 'Risk Management Award - In House & Insurable Risk Managers' at the 2016 British Insurance Awards.
This award acknowledges the organisation that has recognised a business issue in risk management and instrumented a strategy in order to improve the corporate approach towards risk management and insurance.
Coca‑Cola HBC created a business resilience function in response to the UK corporate Governance code, aiming to strengthen existing risk processes and the supporting response streams. Our innovative programme combines ERM (Enterprise Risk Management), Insurance, IMCR (Incident Management an Crisis Resolution), Security and Business Continuity, resulting in an effective model that can be applied anywhere in the Coca‑Cola system.
Winning this award in our first entry year is a great achievement and independently validates that our programme, its objectives and direction are best in class. A programme, though, relies on two things: strong tone from the top and our dedicated people. We have both of these. Therefore the credit for this success goes to our leaders and their teams across the Company in the Group, markets and functions, all of whom have worked embraced the vision and worked to strengthen all the elements of our business resilience programme".
Gerold Knight Group Chief Risk Officer, Coca‑Cola HBC
The 20th British Insurance Awards ceremony was held in London, at the Royal Albert Hall on 6 July 2016. Two thousand of the industry's leaders celebrated performance and innovation, rewarded achievement and recognised high standards in the risk and insurance sector.
Every year the exclusive categories identify the individuals or companies who excel within important market areas, from corporate communication up to distribution and social responsibility. A committee of independent judges, including experts, practitioners, analysts and industry specialists, scrutinise all entries and decide the winners. From twenty submissions, Coca‑Cola HBC was in a shortlist of four, together with Marriott Hotels International, NFU Mutual (Insurance) and Tideway (oil and gas industry).
