Coca‑Cola HBC recognised as one of Northern Ireland's most sustainable companies

We have been awarded Platinum Status in the 2016 Northern Ireland Environmental Benchmarking Awards.

On 17 November 2016, our sustainability achievements at Coca‑Cola HBC Ireland and Northern Ireland were recognised at the annual Northern Ireland Environmental Benchmarking Awards.

This survey, which was conducted by Business in the Community (BITC) and supported by the Department for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs and the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, recognises organisations that are going above and beyond their legal requirements to minimise their impact on the environment.

Achieving Platinum Status, we are now one of just three food and drink companies in Northern Ireland to achieve this highest grade and a score greater than 90 percent. The average result for the survey was 77 percent.

At Coca‑Cola HBC Ireland and Northern Ireland, our sustainability goals are central to our business activities. We know that our commitment to minismising our environmental impact is just as important to our suppliers, customers, and the communities in which we operate and for that reason, we take great pride in this recognition by BITC and the wider sustainability community.

On behalf of the sustainability team at our Knockmore Hill Plant, Jen McGrugan attended the presentation in Belfast.

This result is a true reflection of how environmental management is integrated into our company business strategy and our 2020 Sustainability Commitments. Our company was one of the only three food and drinks manufacturers to reach this status, and we are immensely proud of this achievement.

The survey aims to provide a tool that participants can use to benchmark how they manage and perform against environmental criteria in five key performance areas:

  • Environmental management

  • Suppliers - circular economy
