Coca‑Cola HBC’s third largest production plant opened its doors to more than 700 employees and their families, friends and neighbours to share more about what the company is doing and how we’re ready to meet the challenges of the future.
On Saturday, 10 September 2016 the Edelstal plant hosted the Coca‑Cola HBC Austria annual Family Day for employees, their families and friends, and neighbours. It was a great way for people not just to have fun and get to know their colleagues and their families, but also to have a behind-the-scenes look at production.
One of the highlights of the Day was the plant tour, with plant employees acting as tour guides to share their in-depth knowledge of their work.
It was fascinating to see how an empty bottle turns into a refreshing Coke Sandra Krebs, Legal Counsel, Coca‑Cola HBC Austria
Ready for the future
Since opening the high-tech Edelstal plant in 2013 with an investment of about €40 million, over the last two years we have invested another €25 million in expanding it. Our teams have improved existing production lines, installed additional production lines and are currently implementing an automated warehouse. With these upgrades, we are now well equipped to face future challenges and growth opportunities in the Austrian beverage market.
For instance, visitors could now see for themselves the high speed of the new glass line for our water brand Römerquelle. Managing 45,000 bottles per hour, the new water line is among the fastest of its kind and is exceptionally energy efficient. The glass line ensures the highest safety standards thanks to its automated adjustment for bottle sizes and optimum ambient conditions for light, ventilation and cleaning.
People could also get a first impression of the automated warehouse which will be completed in the coming months. Thanks to this measure, pallet spaces will be increased from 10,000 to 45,000.
With the expansion of the warehouse and the commissioning of the new lines, Edelstal is becoming a major plant for our region within the Coca‑Cola HBC Group.
Elsewhere, highlights of the Family Day included the wheel of fortune and opportunities to climb a beverage case tower, play in the Coca‑Cola soccer cage or challenge colleagues at soccer kick. Young visitors had a lot of fun with games of skill and face-painting. At the end of the day, guests were able to take home a special souvenir – a framed photo of themselves with the popular Coke truck. There was definitely something for everyone!
It was a fun-filled Saturday afternoon with my colleagues and I’m looking forward to a repeat next year Angelika Kenesei, Pricing Specialist, Coca‑Cola HBC Austria
