Coca‑Cola HBC Serbia and METRO Cash & Carry Serbia donated shoes and school supplies for all 84 residents of the SOS Children's Village in Kraljevo, ready for the new school year.
Supporting the communities in which we operate is a central tenet of Coca‑Cola HBC. Volunteer programmes are particularly important to us because they allow us to contribute as individuals as well.
This year, Coca‑Cola HBC Serbia, together with its regular partner METRO Cash & Carry Serbia, donated packages of school supplies and shoes to the SOS Children's Village, Kraljevo, for the start of the new school year. This was just one part of a full day, with volunteers from both companies as well as celebrities, Village employees and, of course, the children themselves and their SOS mothers, the ‘Hero Mums’, taking part.
SOS Children’s Villages is the world’s largest charity working with orphaned and abandoned children; one of its Villages is located in Kraljevo. The Kraljevo Village takes care of more than 130 children who, for various reasons, did not have the conditions - family, security, love and respect - for healthy childhood development until now. The children are supported by SOS mothers who take care of their everyday needs, education and behaviour and are as passionate about them as their birth mothers. These children thrive in a healthy environment, one that's enriched with special activities designed to help them reach their potential and make the best of their lives in society.

The day started with games, followed by everyone preparing lunch together. For this activity, the Village was joined by members of the Junior Chefs Club Serbia, led by the head of METRO HoReCa Center, Uros Urosevic, and Minja Bogdanovski, the author of the blog "Minja’s kitchenette".
We believe that this institution provides an outstanding example of child care for those in need of assistance and that is why we, in addition to donating things that we know are necessary for children, with our long-term partners from METRO, arranged an interesting all-day event that we and the children will cherish as a beautiful memory. This is just one of many humanitarian activities that we organise throughout the year with our partners, because this is the only way to motivate others to join us and work together to do something for the children and the community where we live.
